President George Washington always said, “Deeds, not words.” Actions speak louder than words. Commissioner John Plecnik is the only candidate who has taken real action to balance the budget, cut taxes, support for our seniors and increase support for law enforcement. We need proven leadership for Lake County, and John is proven ready to serve.
John is the only candidate who balanced an actual government budget. Washington DC should take a lesson from Lake County. As your Library Trustee, Councilman and now Commissioner, John voted to balance the budget every single time without raising your taxes. Everyone says they will balance the budget when they run for office, but almost no one actually does it. As reported by The News-Herald, John did in fact balance the budget and will continue to do so.
John is the only candidate who has ever CUT taxes. In Ordinance 2018-33, the City of Willoughby Hills formally thanked John in his role as Councilman and Chair of Finance for his “hard work in cutting our taxes by passing the biggest sewer fee cut in our City's history.”
John is the only candidate who supports our seniors with more than just words. Last year, John proposed and passed the 25% discount on Lake County water and sewer fees for low-income seniors. As Commissioner, John works hand-in-hand with Lake County Senior Services and the Council on Aging to support our seniors as well as fund our senior centers and programs.
John is the only candidate who voted to increase support for law enforcement. While our opponent openly supports the organization to “Defund the Police,” John will always support and defend the police. That is why John is proud to be ENDORSED by former Willoughby Hills Police Officer and Geauga County Commissioner Ralph Spidalieri. As Councilman, John personally negotiated a ten-year rent-free lease to open the Police Substation in the Shoppes of Willoughby Hills. John voted for raises for our part-time and full-time police officers. And John protected our Police Department from the politics of City Hall. That is why John is proud to be ENDORSED by Willoughby Hills Police Chief (Ret.) Chris Collins. As Commissioner, John voted to increase support for our local police departments in Lake County by $1.2 million through the provision of Lexipol training software. John voted to build the Sheriff’s new range and training center in Painesville Township, which will be made available to all local police departments in Lake County. John voted for the COPS Grant to put more Deputies on patrol in our townships. That is why John is proud to be ENDORSED by our Lake County Sheriff Frank Leonbruno.
